GUIDE TO THE AFON LLEDR

(Blaenau Dolwyddelan to Pont y Pant)

NAME OF RIVER: Lledr.

WHERE IS IT?: Up the A470 from the Beaver Pool near Betws y coed. Head towards Bleanau Ffestiniog.

PUT-INS/ TAKE-OUTS: Start at Blaenau Dolwyddelan, GR 699516.

This section finishes at Pont y Pant Falls but it's highly recommended that you carry on down the following section to Beaver Pool.

APPROX LENGTH: 9 km.

TIME NEEDED: 2 hours?

ACCESS HASSLES: Unknown.

WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: Needs rain. If it's bank full it's awesome.

GRADING: Mostly flat water, some IV and V.

MAJOR HAZARDS/ FALLS: Some portages possibly.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The section above the Roman bridge has two good Corsican like falls on it and there is a classic drop below the Roman bridge - if the "recent " road works haven't chucked rubbish in.

One or two other drops and some flat down to Pont y Pant.

The best of the river is still to come, keep going.
