NAME OF RIVER: Clyde - Stonebyres to Crossford

WHERE IS IT?: Hazelbank, south of Glasgow

PUT-INS/ TAKE-OUTS: Put in: park at layby on A72 at (NS 84385 44203) and walk down the path to the river.  

For the take out park in the street at Holm Road (NS 82738 46830) and walk down what looks like a gravel driveway to the riverbank.  Alternatively park in the public car park in Crossford (NS 82579 46757). Or on the other side of the river at (NS 82840 46486).

APPROX LENGTH:  3.4 km

TIME NEEDED: 1-2 hours

ACCESS HASSLES: You need to jump over a fence at the put in

WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: Clyde @ Hazelbank SEPA gauge on SCA Where’s the Water. Always paddleable but uncomfortable at less than 0.5.

MAJOR HAZARDS/ FALLS:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The main rapids are at Hazelbank. Watch for the wee drop at the top which can be missed while you’re looking ahead at the main event.  The rapids at Crossford make for a good play wave when the gauge is over 1.0.
