GUIDE TO NORTH SANNOX WATER

NAME OF RIVER: North Sannox Water.

WHERE IS IT?: Isle of Arran is on OS sheet 69. North east corner of Isle of Arran - Scotland.

PUT-INS/ TAKE-OUTS: Put in / out: road bridge on Bouglaidh road (Sannox to Lochranza) 993467, and take out at 015465... picnic site on shore.

APPROX LENGTH: 3 km.

TIME NEEDED: 1 hour.

ACCESS HASSLES: Good, no problems so far, don't upset anyone.

WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: Unknown.

GRADING: Grade 3 (4).

MAJOR HAZARDS/ FALLS: Trees, one Grade 4 fall 50m above bottom road bridge.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Spate run, various rapids up to Grade 3. Watch out for fall above lower bridge, from there down is the best section. The fall above the top bridge has been run (4). The section above that has not yet been run but could give good 4+ sport at the right water level.

Update from Max (Oct '99)...'The North Sannox has a large tree below the grade 4 fall, inspect from the bottom bridge before running.'

OTHER NOTES: Ferry from Ardrossan to get there! While you're on the Isle of Arran, also go look at Sliddery Water.
