GUIDE TO THE RIVER LUINEAG
(Loch Morlich to Coylumbridge)
RIVER NAME: Luineag
WHERE IS IT?: Exits from Loch Morlich near Aviemore NH956096
PUT-INS/TAKEOUTS: Put in at Loch Morlich - have paddled as far as Coylumbridge, in open boat only, where it joins the Druie
APPROX LENGTH: about 6km
TIME NEEDED: 1 1/2 hours
WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: must have a fair bit in - the wee fall just above the bridge at the exit from Loch Morlich should be flatish. GRADING: 1-2 with one dangerous fall 1/2 km above Coylumbridge
MAJOR HAZARDS/FALLS: one dangerous fall 1/2 km above Coylumbridge - possible in a kayak, awkward portage.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: lots of trees so be prepared for stopping quickly & some portaging/ limbo canoeing - probably a nuisance in a kayak. Some pleasant wee rapids.
OTHER NOTES: Only done in an open boat, haven't paddled below Coylumbridge.
