This section has 2miles of guide, any more paddlers done the bit from the top dam to the lower dam ? From the Dam down to the section above McGregors Leap ?Ta

There are a few fun rapids under the Bridge at Bridge of Balgy class 3/4 in very high flows but only worth paddling as an add on to the Allt Bail a Mhuillin which is a first class ditch, think everything else is pretty flat...

We drove the entire length of it yesterday (Tue 28 Oct 2014) in extremely high flows, the contstriction that was talked about was not a constriction at all, just a massive boil about 6 metres wide, easyish line hard left of it with the drops above forming one long wave train with no major stoppers although it was huge. The constriction looked pretty hectic but did not look like it would hold you and the river was about 10 metres wide there with water pumping through. We walked away as we did not know what it was like underneath, was kind of hard to tell at that level. Totally runable and not hard it seemed but fairly huge at 2.3 on the sepa guage. This was a spike. We decided to go up the Glen to see if we could see these other rapids. In the end we looked at the Inverar Burn which was too hectic for us and ran the Innerwick Burn instead which was great. On the Lyon it seemed like flat water all the way to the dam, Loch Lyon, one or two small rapids but nothing really worth doing. Absolutely beautiful glen though. We drove over the hill from Loch Lyon and paddled the Lochay instead which was rapidly running out of water! Managed to screw that up. Innerwick Burn made up for it though, short but great.

You didn't inspect carefully then!
Hidden at Gallin is a series of grade3-4 drops, over about 400m, ending in the weir marked on OS maps.
In higher water it is ace, and reminds me of triple falls on Etive.

what level on the WTW/SEPA guage am I looking at for a minimum/maximum?

Trying to save a long trip out to look at the bridge if it is going to be unsuitable to paddle

Hi folks

Wish I had read the updated/edited section before running the Lyon yesterday, the situation hasn't changed. re. the first main rapid with the big boulder in the centre. Where we used to run down the right. I would suggest deleting the bit in the description on the first rapid even suggesting the right side now. At the dam release level yesterday it was pretty hard to avoid the syphon on this side. Making the rapid (in my view at least) pretty unrunable with 0.5
