Paddle the Teviot at the weekend. There's a lot of bank engineering work going on, and in particular some spikes at water level on river right just upstream of where the Slitrig comes in. The spikes are holding sheets of metal shuttering in place and are easy to avoid if you can see them, but could be submerged and could put a nasty gash in a boat.

We are in the area next Sunday, not sure on whether to do the Ettrick or the Teviot. The Ettrick is winning as it is far longer, though it may be too low.
The spikes, just after the bridge, and near the fallen down restaurant?
