Re: River Wye - Llangurig to Rhayader
Paddled Llangurig to Rhayader yesterday (16/6/12) at 3' on the WyeUskfoundation.org.uk guage. There were many over-hanging trees in the first half of the trip but none making strainers and all could be avoided easily. The river wide tree strainer on the second half of the trip has now gone. So, the whole section is now clear.

Tree blocking channel below bridge in Rhayader at the moment. (Nov 3rd). Might wash out sometime but not passable at the moment.

Tree still in the outflow from the pool below Town Falls today. A bit of surgery would help matters, and probably make the drop runnable at moderate levels and with good close safety cover - we didn't have time, as it was getting towards dusk when we arrived.

River Wye - Llangurig to Rhayader Tree warning
Paddled from Llangurig to Rhayader yesterday on a rapidly rising river. Just a warning that the first Grade 3 rapid between the first two road bridgesis entirely blocked by a large tree. You can see it coming but there's no way through it! I'll try to upload a picture when I've worked out how!
Re: River Wye - Llangurig to Rhayader
Just to clarify the above, I think timtimpeggy means the recirculating eddy rapid. There is currently a huge tree blocking the exit. It is probably doable by keeping extreme ever right, but...
1) The consequences of cocking it up aren't worth it IMO.
2) If you made the recirculating eddy, getting out of it will be very difficult because the flow is currently feeding straight into the tree.

Re: River Wye - Llangurig to Rhayader
Pretty horrible blockage on this section yesterday. There is a large tree on a left hand bend which has accumulated a load of debris, including a length of wire mesh and barbed wire fence, complete with fence posts. The fence is not very visible. The dead sheep it has caught is!
This is a real hazard to swimmers.
We ran this at medium levels and it was possible to sneak under the tree river right.
I suggest inspection!
Our group are missing a set of paddles as a result! Please contact me if found!

Any idea of a grid reference for this please? I think I know where it is, but just want to check.

Paddled this section on 11/03/18 and the left-hand bend blockage is still there, but still runnable cutting from left to hard-right and back under the tree, with some positive paddling.
