The land at the Glyndyfrdwy Bridge is owned by Mr Davis, and the access charge is £3 per kayak. Note that parking is feasible here, and there is a toilet. There is also a large chalet / bunkhouse at the put in which sleeps 12 (did not use it) but is rent-able via Coed Y Glyn Log Cabins (www.coedyglyn-logcabins.co.uk) the put-in reference for your SatNav is 52°58'40.0"N 3°15'48.8"W (Decimal: 52.977773, -3.263563). Very steep drive to access, though OK for cars, parking could be 4x4 only when very wet!

Has anyone accessed the Dee at Glyndyfrdwy recently? is payment for parking still expected and if so how do you pay?

I've been and looked and it's still not clear to me. The field mentioned looks very private.

Ran the section from Glyndyfrdwy to Horseshoe Sunday 3 December. About 0.8 m on the gauge at Corwen which was a good level. Something like 8 pairs of fishermen out, mostly silent but one or two did wave and even say Hello!

I've ran the Glyndyfrdwy to Horseshoe section of this for the last 2 weekends, the first on a Saturday, the second on a Sunday.
The first was at a high level, 14 on the gauge at Mile End Mill., the second, 8 days later at 5 on the gauge.
At 14, the river is washed out pretty much all the way, but does give some good bouncy wave sections.
At 5, there are some scrapes on rocks just under the surface, and a lot more rocks visible. I doubt it is any more than an easy grade 2 at this level, you can pretty much stay in the middle and get down each of the mini rapids on the route without doing any sharp manouevering. It is certainly suitable for beginners to whitewater at this level.
Access is from a holiday park field 100 metres or so on the right after going over the road bridge from the A5. It is £3 per person to use this access point/parking. If the guy doesnt come down, just leave the cash at the house opposite the entrance to the holiday park. There are toilets here, disguised (heavily!) to look like a mini cow shed. With your back to the river, the toilets are just beyond the large wooden holiday home on the right hand side.
Fishermen, both times I ran this were mid february, so maybe low season for fishers? None on the Saturday, probably as the river was really high compared to normal, the Sunday we saw one bunch of 4 fishermen, it was wide when we saw them, so went to the opposite bank, and nothing was said.

River Dee. Afon Dyfrdwy. Carrog Bridge to Horseshoe Falls.
Two of us ran this section in Open Canoes on Sat 5th August 2023.
Put in at Carrog bridge, avoiding the wild swimmers. A level of 0.65
Put in at 9-30 am and arrived at HSF at 11-30 am. A very pleasant
trip. Couple of G2 rapids and several other interesting bits to keep
up the interest. lots of potential playspots. Very scenic, with a few
friendly anglers along the way.

23/11/24 just at the bottom of the plas berwyn rapid a big tree high on the river-left bank broke off from its roots and fell towards/into the river . River levels were high and rising fast so the branches/trunk sections which hit the water may well have been washed downstream. But if it remains where it fell there could be a suprise strainer waiting right at the end of the rapid. Suggest inspection.
