I'm a numpty, the Calancasca is in Switzerland, I should have checked my notes. It's infamous for having no water. We were lucky to catch it back in May traveling between Italy and Switzerland.

What's the run like? Is it a good one to go to if other things are on the high side for anyone who's surname isn't Lammler?

From what I remember the Calancasca was a good Grade 4+ (medium levels) roadside, it starts Grade 5. Some choss in the river past a quarry, but mostly excellent. I have no idea how the levels work, www.rivermap.ch said it was good to go and it was.

I should have saved this one for later.

OK I got the location of the Versasca wrong, but I also said 'definitely Italy' and I stand by that! It just looks kinda Italian. There's always a bridge.
