Ran the Sprint from the Public toilets on 27/12/2013. There are a couple of trees which have blown into the top section in the high winds causeing river wide strainers and are a manditory portage. In high water you need to proceed with care on this section and allow plenty of time to get out above them.

Ran this today with no mandatory portages. Looks as if the tree mentioned above has washed ashore river left further down. Quite a few overhanging branches to watch out for on the way down but certainly nothing terminal!

Ran the Sprint on 0.65 (medium) on 18/10/14. Excellent levels with no major tree blockages from Cocks Close downwards. The 'warm-up' from the Public Toilets was a horrible tree-infested ditch, loads of pin potential and wouldn't recommend it at any level. Have a look and get in further down towards the main rapids if you can.

Kirsty - agree that the warm up isn't usually pleasant, but there is no way of accessing the river from public land downstream of the suggested put in. Paddlers doing this in the past have contributed to bad feeling amoungst some landowners in the valley (as I've personally experienced!)

Please continue to use the recommended put in from the road and car park next to the church to maintain the fragile peace!
Done any NE/NW rivers not on the site? PM me!

Paddled this today at 0.83 on the guage on 19/12/2015 (10 days after big floods) trees are a problem however towards the end there is a tree down blocking the whole river, portage essential and a pain in the arse, get out just above river left and fight through the branches and thorns.

The Sprint Bridge has reopened after the Dec floods last year but as a result of the works it looks like we have lost the normal parking area near the bridge (it is currently a very deep muddy mess). There might be some small areas to park near the bridge and maybe they might sort the mud patch but in the mean time please park considerately.

River Sprint - tree down on last bit of final large rapid (Sprint Mill Falls?). Hidden in last drop so inspect whole thing before running as BOTH channels blocked. I got away with going over far right of it but we had to pull one paddler over it still in boat
