Paddled this today, parked at the Church carpark at the bottom of Eccleston, bit of a faff to get on the water but nothing too bad.

River was nice gentle flow, 0.4m at Croston. Few bits of debris in the river and a bit of tree dodging but didn't have to get out at any point.

Exit at Tarleton Lock was at low water, so take a throw line to assist getting the boat out and be ready to get a bit muddy. Nice experience really, parked at Plox Brow car park so having got out of the Douglas paddled 1km or so along the canal.

An alternative would be to park near Sollom but the exit would be another muddy scramble.
