Watch out for the gauge at the bottom of this section as it's below the North and South confluence. For a more reliable option you could check at the bridge over the North Teign after Gidley park Hotel. Haven't calibrated a gauge yet. Has anyone else? Anyone know how many tree's in it at the moment? Chain saw or Bow?

Hello

We went on a little walk last week and spent a long time trying to find the upper teign. Eventually we found it and the snowfall seems to have taken a huge number of trees down accross the river and most of the exciting stuff is littered with huge logs. Definatly not worth trying to paddle until it has been flooded out.

I've put some photos up Here. Some of them are geotagged.

Almost certainly, yet given the rainfall prediction, the water will be high over night. This run is poor, 2 okish drops, and lots of wood, so I would not bother. There is considerably better out field sport elsewhere on Dartmoor even for local tigers. East Oakment, Avon and Lyd.

Im interested in doing the okement but i'de prefer to get down the east lyn before hand. I'de also like to do it with someone who's done it before. I don't have any paddling friends who have.

Planning to do this section and on down to Fingle Bridge on Sun morning with a group of mixed abilities. Does anyone have any specific tree reports - particularly on the upper G3 section? Thanks

On the top bit by the foot bridge, there a trees every where for about 3 miles, but this is on the grade 4 - 5 bit.

I did from the Confluence down to Fingle bridge 3 weeks ago. The river was bank full and through lots of trees. at this level you come across the trees with little notice. You would need to make some very small eddies.

There is only one big tree just after the weir. This section is alot more friendly.

Walked in and had a look at this today, the tree situation was not too bad with clear lines but it is very similar to the Upper Plym in style, a few very nice rapids that will set the heart pumping for paddlers that can cope with 4+/5, we walked RR but with great difficulty and had to turn back before we reached the weir, RL looked a better option for scouting. There is a bit of a carry in but its all down hill.
Water was all gone from overnight rain so will need to be quick, it may be difficult to catch at right level as it looked dangerous low with pins and syphons, yet too high and would be continuous grade 5 dodging branches.
