From Ray Latham (Nov 06) ... "The Meavy was fairly high and good paddling. Very technical with many large boulders and pinned trees and lots of blind bends that needed a slow approach, but we did not need to get out to look.

Two of us paddled the Meavy on Tue 21st Nov 2006. We used the correct put in and get out for the lower Plym. While setting up to get in an angler came along and informed us that we were not allowed to paddle this stretch. I had traveled from Bristol area and so was not going to be put off too easily. After 10 min's of talks that were fairly easy going and friendly on both sides he agreed that on this one occasion it probably would not be a problem and that we would probabaly not upset anyone. I think though that he sent the jungle drums out as there was a river bailiff waiting for us at the get out and we were approached by two others. All seemed very aware of our presence and paddle plans. But thankfully none got snotty, just very protective of their stretch of river and keen to put off any future paddlers. So be prepared for an organised angler mafia in this area."

Still 5 or 6 trees in the last half mile that are likely to require portaging.
