The National Trust will no longer let you put in at Bodiam, citing Environment Agency concerns about the river bank.
They directed me to The Hub, a campsite upstream on the other side of the river (entrance just up the hill from the railway station), where you pay £5 to park and have to portage a long way to the water - take a trolley.
They prioritise their own campers and paddle board renters at the launch point and it gets very crowded at the weekend.
Nice tea shop though.
