does anyone out there fancy doing this trip sometime soon? I live in Lymington and had been planning to give it a go.

Yes, I paddled the river about a year ago with one other. I had heard that there can be one objector in the name of Roydon Manor, however we saw no-one. Yes the river has many obstacles but its fun all the same. The weir is probably shootable but worth a visual check first, otherwise carry on lefthand bank. We managed to slide sideways (just!) under the footbridge after Boldre Bridge and, once close to Lymington, carried across the road and re-launched.....continuing down to the Harbour Masters slip by the Yacht/Sailing clubs. Ideally you want a reasonable amount of water but not too much to squeeze under the bridges.
