P&H Quest v NDK Romany Explorer - comments please

Post by Bergen BoB » Mon Jun 24, 2002 12:17 pm

I've made the decision to give up eating and living indoors for a while and invest in a full spec sea kayak instead! The sort of thing I'm after having read other threads could be a Quest or an Romany Explorer (or something similar). Any pros and cons, views or opinions would be greatly appreciated, as would any suggestions of an alternative.

Cheers :)

Never paddled a Quest.

Romany Explorer is a great boat, but it is a large boat so it may depend on your size. I used one for day trips a couple of years ago and found it very comfortable and easily fast enough. It has loads of carrying space. If you order a new one from Nigel Dennis, he will fit it out to order, so you can get the bulkheads where you want etc.

If you can get to Anglesey you can hire one for a day from Anglesey Sea and Surf (Nigel's place) for about £10. Worth spending to try it out.
