Securing the bow^

Post by guy » Wed Jan 16, 2008 11:53 am

I came across this tip and thought I'd share it with you.

It is a short length of tape bolted inside the bonnet - most cars should have a suitable bolt.

Saves searching under the car.

Nice one Guy.
Keep pushing for fair access to all rivers (or better still, just go and paddle them!).

That's a brilliant idea - provided the bolt is close enough to the edge of
the bonnet. If it is too far away, you will get an upward pull on the
bonnet itself, and on a windy drive, it could get jerked quite hard.
If you've ever seen a car whose bonnet opens while driving along, you
will know that this is a frightening as well as a dangerous occurrence.
I saw this happen to a landrover driving towards me on the road from
work once and the bonnet must have flown up at least 5m above the
vehicle before landing somewhere behind, where, fortunately, there
was no other traffic. Of course, in this case, the bonnet's travel might
be restricted by hitting your boat(s), but that could put a damper on
your trip !!
