Thankfully it seems that they are safe and well, a false alarm.
I hope that they have good insurance - Iceland is not a cheap country.

To update, Freya & Greg Stamer have just completed the circ nav of Iceland in two NDK Explorers...To quote:
We are done!
33 days, 25 paddling days, 8 weather days, 1620 km, 65 km average, 10000 pictures, 100 lighthouses, 100 headlands, 10000000 birds, huge cliffs, black desert sand, plenty of water & overall a great time! Some educative experiences on the edge, but no serious incidents, thank goodness.....
Those are the numbers which just don't say much about the experience and impression we've got...but I'll take my time soon to update the rest of the trip & edit & upload some pictures! A slide show will be ready soon & available to present, too. Just so far, we are sitting dry & warm now at Steini's house & are recovering a bit...the South Coast was a bit more entertaining! Thanks to Karel Vissel fo the reliable weather messages on the Sat-phone every day! Thanks to Steini for hosting us and driving us around!
Thanks to all our sponsors, I'll update soon how their great gear was holding up :-))
We will be in Germany this weekend, & do the office jobs then...

It's a Totally Scientific fact that all sea kayaking articles are Incredibly Boring, albeit each in their own distinct way.
However, I've just read Greg Stamer's account of that trip (in Sea Kayaker Magazine), and it's great! Riveting stuff, highly recommended.

Re: Iceland Expedition
I remember reading this article in Sea Kayaker in 2008. It is the best article I've ever read in sea kayaker and I've been keeping my fingers crossed for a book.
