Thank you for brightening up my day, Bunty - what a great project!
If the paddlewheels work independently I suppose you can even roll the thing, provided the water is deep enough for the smokestack.

Wasn't there some joke about fires in kayaks and not having your cake and eating it?

I believe it goes something along the lines of two Eskimos are out hunting polar bears from the water when they start to get a bit of a chill on so one of them builds a little camp fire in the boat which instantly gets out of hand and engulfs them all in flames (alternative version involves it melting a hole and them sinking) which just goes to prove that you can't have your kayak and heat it.
