We paddled the River Sow from Stafford to Wolseley Bridge (and part of the Trent from Great Haywood). There are quite a few partial blockages due to fallen trees but about 1 km upstream from the Tixall road bridge there was a complete blockage from several large trees. Quite an easy portage on the left bank though, with a seal launch to get back in. You can appreciate why rivers flood when blockages like these trap material and sediment and don't get cleared by the relevant authorities.
