Kayaking Avon near Amesbury

Post by Karlslawrence »

Hi there.

I'm new to this forum and hoping I might be able to gain some local knowledge.

I've recently bought a couple of 2 seater inflatable kayaks and was hoping to use them on the Avon between Durrington and Amesbury.

I'm aware that kayaking is often precluded in many areas and so I wondered if anyone knows whether I am allowed to kayak here or, if there is anywhere else near by I could kayak.

Many thanks,

Karl.

Hi Karl - there are canoe clubs around there, I would get in touch with them as they are not too far from you in Salisbury (www.salisburycanoeclub.org.uk) also StoneHenge and Pewsey (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category ... 129053459/).

From what I can see its pretty shallow around Amesbury, if you were to disturb the river bed its pretty much frowned upon especially higher up on a river where there might be fish spawning beds, its worth checking out first.
