Warning warning Crickhowell
Did Brecon to Crickhowell today in canoe, 4 and a half hours, not bad!
At Crickhowell opposite the small layby, 3 cars were parked on the pavement, not in the way nor blocking the gate, and they all got parking tickets. I have parked there for 20 years and not had a problem. Don't understand it as the cars were parked sensibly and not causing a problem.
Just to let you know.

Your no longer allowed to park on the pavement or part road part pavement, pretty sure its a national thing. Its to do with blocking pavements.

In my understanding that has always been the law. I live locally and you never see the police. The pavement goes nowhere as it finishes there.
With my conspiracy hat on has an anti paddling land owner made a complaint?
I know on busy days other outdoor users such as walkers/dog walkers park there.

It's only the law in London, although Scotland will be enforcing it from 2021 apparently - who issued the tickets?

Don't know who issued the tickets. There are no traffic wardens in Crickhowell, so has to be police?
Or the landowner's game warden is a special constable on a weekend???????
It will be interesting to see what happens to badly parked cars next time Green Man is on?

Re: Warning warning Crickhowell
As mentioned above, with a few exceptions parking on a pavement isn’t an offence in itself.
In this case though there are double yellow lines and these apply all the way to the highway boundary, including the pavement.
So it will just be a ticket for parking on a yellow line and not actually for pavement parking.

Re: Warning warning Crickhowell
And it will have been Powys County Council (who do have Traffic Wardens!) who issued the tickets and not the police.

John fancy ruining a conspiracy theory!
Spoken to a mate who lives in Crickhowell, they do have a traffic warden at the weekend and he is enthusiastic in doing his job!
Some good news, if you have a lot of cars, on the weekend you can park in the high school car park if you make a donation in an honesty box.

Thanks for the warning ...... I always assumed that Powys would be out and about checking their pay and display car parks now they are charging 7 days a week ...... It probably only needs ten tickets issued to pay for one CEO for the day.
Canoeing - bigger boat, broken paddle, more skill!

Yeah, sorry. I keep forgetting how unfashionable facts are these days! :Dstonercanoe wrote:John fancy ruining a conspiracy theory!
I’ve used this car park a few times but hadn’t seen or heard anything about an honesty box. Is this new?on the weekend you can park in the high school car park if you make a donation in an honesty box.

Don't know if the honesty box is new. A local told me about it.
