Since publishing the first edition of read the water I have received a great deal of feedback, the details of which has led me to put together this second edition. The main emphasis of the feedback was to expand on how the paddler can develop their ability to recognise changes in their environment and thus predict what this means and how they should react.
I asked Dean “Sid” Sinfield an experienced coach, coach educator, sea kayaker and paddler to review the book and see how it could be developed. Sid with his clarity of thought and considerable knowledge of situational awareness in other adventurous activities has written the new introduction. This has led to improved threads throughout the main texts and finally a comprehensive final chapter summarising the content and signposting the paddler to further tools to help them develop their skill.
"A great resource for trying to interpret what's happening at sea." If you would like a copy please go to seakaykguides.co.uk publications page.
