Free Gear...Pass it on and support your local Mountain Rescue

Post by theashman1979 » Sat Aug 04, 2018 7:03 am

Hi all,

Not posted for a while as kids and house renovations got in the way....So we are now moving house...again, as the missus wants more bedrooms meaning I have another renovation on the horizon, and little or no kayaking, im going on....this isnt the point.....

I have 20 editions of kayak session issues 37-57 and was going to put em up for sale - good mags you know, expensive too! but i thought, naaah it would be nice to pass them on to someone else for free... then I thought they could make a donation to a charity....maybe their local mountain rescue, RNLI.... everyone wins...

So here is the Deal

1.Person with unwanted gear posts on this thread and the first person to respond that they want the item gets it. Sort details through PM.
2.Person with unwanted gear pays for postage and a nice man from hermes drops it off at t'other persons gaff. They get lots of pleasure use and enjoyment out of new gear.
3.The recipient then donates a nominal fee (say £10) to your local selected charity of your choice.
4.You post on this thread to tell us what you donated and who you donated it to.
5. We both get a warm fuzzy feeling about supporting fellow paddlers by passing unwanted gear on for free and our local mountain rescue get some much needed support.

If people like the idea lets keep the thread going - post any unwanted gear you have that you are willing to post at your cost and the recipient donates. Its also a great way of getting new paddlers geared up with old unwanted gear that we all have lying around.

Not sure if this breaks any Forum rules - hope it doesnt and if it does im sure ill hear about it!

so there you go free Kayak Porn.....who wants it!

thanks poke unfortunately the link doesnt work..! i thought it was a good idea but evidently not - ill cancel my dragons den appearance!

I am surprised i havent had any takers....FREE STUFF FOR KAYAKERS..and you get to donate to a worthwhile charity and in mountain rescue one that you may find you need one day...

Ah well, last chance or ill burn em...seems a shame.

The group is "Outdoor Kit for Charity" or somthing similar. I'm sure it would come up if you searched on FB.
Also seems to be sadly underused :-(

I’ll take the mags if they’re still available? Donation to Edale MRT.

Andy they are yours. Top lad.

Drop me your address on pm and I’ll get em posted to you ASAP.

So we are off and running and edale mountain rescue get the first donation... really good for me as they are my local team!...... this just keeps on giving!

Anyone else with something to pass on.... come on we have terrible reputations for being a tight bunch us kayakers! I can’t believe I’m the only one with any unwanted goodies....

Magazines arrived today, cheers for sending them through. I'm going to drop them off at the club tomorrow, and have a whip round to see if I can add to my tenner. I'll give it a week or so and let you know what we raise

Nice one Andy, glad they got there and good to see the club will get some use of them.

Surprised at the lack of interest in this thread - especially given mtn rescue etc are always very pleased to get a bit of support...

It's a good idea. I was about to put my hand up for the magazines but got beaten to it.

Will see if anything else comes up. :)
