Cow Green Reservoir

Post by Geoffroid » Sun Jun 10, 2018 2:31 pm

I noticed a sign at Cow Green Reservoir saying "no unauthorised watersports". Does anyone know what the access situation is for kayaking on Cow Green Reservoir?

Thanks.

Most reservoirs require the permission of the landowner to paddle on them, according to the 1991 Water Industry Act - see http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/ ... ervoirs-UK

I don't know whether it could be argued there is an ancient right of navigation on reservoirs, since they are widened rivers. That might be stretching it a bit.

I once looked into paddling on Rutland Water, but there is only a tiny creek where they allow canoeing/kayaking, so I didn't bother.
