Paddling-useful webcams for Alpine Rivers

Post by cathalferris » Sat May 12, 2018 3:16 pm

For those paddling in the Alps, here are links to some local webcams, that show at least something useful of the river in the area.

These links are alive and functional as of mid-May 2018, I may edit to suit if bitrot occurs.

Briancon region:
L'Argentiere-la-Bessee slalom course http://82.127.30.208/view/viewer_index.shtml?id=764
Get-on for the Ubaye Racecourse: http://www.ubaye.com/webcam-riviere-uba ... fting.html
Embrun Wave: http://www.solarcam.fr/Peche_Durance_Embrun/
(this one has longer storage for the same camera: https://www.webcams.travel/webcam/14665 ... la-durance)

Val Sesia:
These are not live-view, but are mostly updated every few minutes, linked from here.
Piode Falls and the few hundred yards downstream: http://tebgroup.eu/cam/tebpiode02.jpg
The run up to the Sorba Slides: http://tebgroup.eu/cam/tebrassa01.jpg
The get out for the Sermenza Gorge in Balmuccia: http://tebgroup.eu/cam/tebbalmuccia01.jpg
The confluence of the Egua and Sermenzina: http://tebgroup.eu/cam/tebrimasco01.jpg
Varallo, showing the get on for the Varallo-Quarona run: http://tebgroup.eu/cam/tebvarallo01.jpg

Soca:
Slalom course well downstream in Nova-Gorica: https://www.whatsupcams.com/en/webcams/ ... ak-center/

I can't find any other webcams that show the river in the Soca Valley, might be an idea to get one organised? There were also some much better Briancon river webcams on the Guisane and the Guil, but they seem to be gone off the web.

Please feel free to add any further useful webcams in this style below here.

THis looks like it has functionality to control the camera. Someone was certainly panning around on it when I was looking just now.
Any idea how you log into it?

I've no idea what the login is, and it's probably better not to keep trying, in case the video itself is firewalled away for security reasons.
Sometimes there is a programmed path the camera takes, zoning in on all the useful places it can see. I'm unsure who would enable that though.

All those that used to be on eauxvives haven't worked for several years (of other websites only the already mentioned Ubaye still there):

This version of the first listed Soca webcam allows you to review levels from the past week:
