Recomendations for Latex Seal replacement

Post by Mark Gawler » Wed May 09, 2018 6:31 am

Who do people recommend for Latex Seal replacement service?

I have an Typhoon Multisport drysuit which the seals need replacement, I was going to send it back to Typhoon as there service has been excellent in the past, but before I do I thought I'd see what other opti.options there are.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark

I use Predator Dry suits at Danestream Farm on the Sway Rd, not far from us. He's done mine for probably more than 10 years :-). Its best to call him or visit seem to recall he's not great with email.

I've only had a seal replaced the once. (Quite new to all this.)

As luck would have it I was in N Wales when my neck seal split so I was able to call in to visit the Rubberman at his workshop and get it replaced the same day. Can't fault the servivce and he did an excellent job of the repair. :-)

DIY. It's an easy job, takes an hour in front of the telly for neck or wrist seal. Never needed to do a foot seal before, but imagine it's similar. Costs about £10-15 to DIY (less if you already have the glue).

Rubberman is good. I've sometimes bought seals from him and DiY'ed. I've also had very good service from Typhoon so I might be tempted to go to them. Postage is probably a big part of the cost.

Thanks for the replies, I went with Typhoon. Rubberman would have been fractionaly cheaper. Predator Dry suits seemed very expensive even with the saving on postage as they are local.

I’ve got no hesitation in recommending Typhoon. They’ll give the suit a full test and repair any minor leaks that they discover too.

Turnaround time is a week or two, so Rubberman may be better if you’re in a hurry though.

Typhoon, good service turnaround was a week, they quoted 10 days.

No complaints.

Yup, Typhoon. As above they did a pucker job.

About a year ago I sent a drycag to rubberman. I'm afraid I wasn't overly impressed. Where Typhoon completely removed the old seal and replaced it, Rubberman cut the old rubber seals near the base and glued new seals to the old seals. I could have DIY-ed the job and achieved the same result for a fraction of the cost.
