We call on the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to implement a Bill to establish statutory public rights of access to land and water for recreational and other purposes. The bill should enshrine access rights and responsibilities for the public in the same way that the 2003 Land Reform (Scotland) Act encourages co-operative use of the outdoors for healthy, low impact recreation. This Bill must enshrine public rights of navigation for inland water, and permit access to and along water. It must remove the lack of legal clarity and restrictions which act as a barrier to sport and recreation and the promotion of Wales as a welcoming place for healthy recreation, tourism and adventurous activity at all levels of participation and enjoyment.

Re: Petition
Yes! We need everyone to sign. Individual politicians are naturally interested in what their constituents will vote for, but the government is very aware of the large contribution made to the Welsh economy by activity tourism.sundaykayaker wrote:Done. Does it count if u live outside of Wales?

Re: Petition
The online petition, helped by the whole community, achieved over 1100 signatures in less than two weeks, and we will continue to promote it until hand-in date.
Now that the festive season is over we are also looking to promote the campaign face-to-face with the vast range of people who enjoy the waters (and waterside) of Wales but may not use social media often. Swimmers, boaters, dog-walkers, bird-watchers, hikers... all will be out and about and may not be aware of our campaign! Help us raise awareness and build the WoW community!
Ways to join in:
- Visit and ‘Like’ the Waters of Wales Community Page
- pm me here or message the page for a .pdf petition form and return address for completed forms. Welsh and/or English language forms are available :-)
- Spread the word and inform us of any event that will be of interest to water and waterside users, be it a Wales-wide national event, or local gathering. Let us know what's going on and keep a PAPER PETITION FORM handy!
