River aire

Post by bill-96 » Sun Jan 03, 2016 6:18 pm

Hi, I'm fairly new to kayaking and just wondered if anybody kayaks the river aire as there seems to be no video footage or anything when searched. Me and a couple of friends have done this river a couple of times in the bingley area towards the end of last year and just wondered if anybody has any experience on it.

Thanks,
Billy

The River Aire was in the classic 100 Paddles book and there's a published canoe trail for one stretch. For experienced canoeists, most of it is a quite reasonable proposition at most water levels... but you've got hazards, including some big weirs.

Leeds Canoe Club is based on the banks of the Aire in Kirkstall. Contact them through their website or through their Facebook Group. See also Bradford and Bingley Canoe Club - you'll soon find folk who routinely use the river :)
