Dreamline video - Kickstarter

Post by buck197 »

Maybe the Project has hit the buffers but there has been no updates on the delivery of Video/T-shirt since July this year. Plenty of comments on the kickstarter website about people's concerns. You've had me money Steve Fisher what is happening????

I wonder what the excuses will be?

Green card
Injury
Surgery
Lost a thousand dollars
Had to go detox on the Zambezi
It just wasn't meant to be

Sounds a bit sucky if they're not doing info updates.

Not surprised. Silence since July 8th, and also ignoring questions asked on Facebook. $83,000 to make a kayaking instructional would be a dream to any independent filmmaker. Heck I could make a fairly reasonable budget action thriller for that much! In fact I have for much less! So the fact that he has had that money and wont even give any sort of update is very concerning. This isn't the first time he's let people down. But if he's just going to forget this project exists, I do believe that it would constitute fraud. He needs to step up to the plate.

He did reply to one facebook post on 1st Nov:
Steve Fisher - Slow and steady on the Dreamline project Kody. Obviously running late but it will be great. Update soon.
Ok, no more facebook for me until I'm done then! Thanks a lot for supporting our project, it'll be worth the wait.

& just posted on Kickstarter:
A week ago I've sent a Message directly to Steve, asking for a update.
This morning I received a reply:
Hi Michel,
Steve is occupied with the filming and editing of this project and I have stepped in a bit to help with some of the admin. It’s turned out to be a monster of an edit. We will be launching the website in a week or so and Steve will be giving more regular updates through the site. The timeline was certainly optimistic, but it’s all falling into place. Thanks for being patient!
Cheers,
Lauren

So nothing heard about Dreamline and can Steve Fisher produce any news but looks like he needed some money for his adventures and kickstarter was the avenue of choice.

My understanding is now that they completed filming in March, and now I guess he's editing. I've been harsh in the past, but he has to make day to day ends meet, so he will be working on multiple commercial projects at the same time. Which as a video producer I know can all add up for a pretty immense workload. From what I'm seeing, it hasn't been forgotten and is still being worked on.

The caveat being that 83 grand is still a lot for an instructional!

I'm not sure why I thought of this but has anyone seen any news?

I see there is a Dreamliner Blind but that looks like a different project, more of a story.

No news. Basically it was all a scam. Fisher took the money and ran. It was supposed to have been all in the can and ready to edit, but he couldn't be bothered. Made all sorts of piss poor excuses as to why.

The ninja website & FB page have both disappeared and he's lost his sponsorship deals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Fis ... filmmaker)

Blind was produced just before it all went quiet:

There was also Pat Keller running Gorilla blindfolded: https://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/s ... ling-film/

Real shame how the mighty are fallen. All so soon after the Inga project which was, in many ways, the ultimate blockbuster kayaking movie.

When I last looked he can still be found on FB (in suit and tie) as 'Steven Fisher'.

Wonder what all the people that worked with him on Kickstarter have to say about it - Pat, Dane etc? I'm assuming they got paid?

Unfortunately Dane and EJ have been unfairly tarnished by it all. They were just participants that Fisher got involved to demo moves and techniques. The most puzzling thing I find about this whole project is that Fisher claimed that all the footage was shot and that it just needed editing. If that was the case it could be finished really, really easily. But for some reason he never did. Maybe he did something stupid like losing it all without backing it up? Highly possible, and given other things I have been told about him over the years it wouldn't be at all surprising if that had happened, and instead of coming clean just made up some BS or kept quiet about it. This is a guy who, after all, used a severely injured back from a long term injury as one reason he couldn't do a talk in the UK, when literally days before I had seen him running around with a Steadicam all day for a week, and other heavy camera kit, filming the Jackson family documentary for a TV channel... Before then posting on his FB page that he was heading out for another trip in another country! He's not the sharpest tool in the box, put it that way.

Although he hasn't posted on that FB account since autumn 2017 (trip to Bali for Ben Brown's wedding).

Zambezi then Nile were a bit like the goldrush with most employed paddlers blowing their money as soon as they earned it & I doubt he got any compensation for the island that's now under the dam.

I could say something about the island, but would probably be had for libel.
