tree on lune - feature above lincolns inn bridge

Post by lakesboy » Fri Feb 28, 2014 8:14 pm

after a quick solo night paddle there is definately something in the feature just above lincolns inn bridge (the main m6 junction to sedbergh road bridge in new money) there is a tree branch sticking vertically from the water in the centre, you can shoot right across whatever else from the tree is submerged presently BUT in lower levels it might expose more of whatever it is, branches or more of a tree? was a bit hard to tell in the dark!

as levels will drop over next few days please be careful with groups this weekend and beyond......

The tree in question has been stuck there for over a year now and showing no signs of moving. Before getting on its easy to park at Lincoln's inn bridge and walk up the footpath on river left to have a quick look if need be.Despite some huge levels it's still wedged, we'll have another go this summer at trying to remove it

There's some pictures on this thread. http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/foru ... 2&start=30

the one you are referring to is not the hazard at all, there is currently a vertical branch over a metre high sticking out of the water centre right and tree debris, or other branches across as well on the right i rode over. the tree you are looking at in those pictures is never a hazard unless dog dog low. think its misleading to put up its the same as the pictures thats all for others to see.

having paddled the lune again over the weekend this time not in the dark, the tree i mentioned is still there....

you can shoot it just right of the vertical branch sticking clear of the water on river centre right, there is definately debris and something underneath, and this is BEFORE the 'main drop' of the rapid and the stump that seems to be what everyone thinks i am on about.

any groups paddling this section please be careful and inspect if unsure at all, although you can read and run if group is capable and competent enough.

enjoy! :)

Had a walk down yesterday in low water. No sign of any wood or obstructions at all , everything now clear
