First of all a big thanks to Douglas for his recommendations and advice
Day 1 and we decided to head to the top of Carna to get our bearings.
Looking west towards Oronsay
south towards Loch Teacuis
right, time to leg it back down and get out on the kayaks, a quick trip around Carna.
time for lunch
Day 2 started with a bit of rain and wind, back up on top of Carna my anemometer was showing the wind gusting F8. Time to get back down and light the wood burner. Later in the day the wind died down and we got out again, staying close to the cottage.
Louis, one of our dogs was keen to come for a short paddle
Day 3 Off to explore Loch Teacuis
drifting with the tide on the way in
time for lunch
as the locals were enjoying the sun
heading for home
Day 4 and we thought we would try the dogs on the kayaks with a short paddle across to a large empty field we could see on the far shore opposite the cottage. Certainly gives your balance a good test with a dog shifting from side to side on the back of the kayaks.

Day 5 time for a longer trip. from the northern tip of Carna across to the mainland at Glenborrodale, along the northern shore of Risga, crossing to the north eastern tip of Oronsay, coming into Loch na Droma Buidhe from the west and back to Carna via Eilean nan Eildean.
Crossing from Risga to Oronsay
Lunch stop on Oronsay
Looking for shortcuts at the north western end of Oronsay
Just before turning onto the exposed western end of Orosay, where things got a little bumpy the closer we got to the western entrance of Loch na Droma Buidhe
and it was a relief to find a sheltered little bay just inside the entrance to the Loch
we arrived at the tidal channel at the eastern side of the Loch an hour before high tide to cruised through
we then drifted with the tide to round the southern end of Carna escorted by the local seal population who did a fine job of avoiding having their pictures taken!
the final day of Carna we walked over to the far side of the island, walking through woodlands with a blanket of bluebells.
