Its only surfers, they need something to do with their arms whilst they are standing around doing nothing on the waves

I've been many situations where people are against me (Long hair, shaved head, paddling on rivers, walking in the Dales, naturist, Yorkshireman... The list is too long to type) so one more won't make too much difference :)

Just looked at the comments on the only post in there and I think more than half of them are from kayakers taking the piss! :D

"Standing around" haha yeah right more like sitting around!! Went surfing on the east coast the other day must of been 100 surfers in the water and I estimate about 10 of them could surf hahaha. I do board surf but Im the one trying every wave wooping and hollaring not sitting around looking miserable, not speaking to one another. You aint that cool if you cant surf maaaan, rant over have a lovely day

and then you can watch and then this
wooohoooo kayaking is loads better!

I'm now both a kayak and board surfer ... I have the scars to prove it.

Image

Experiencing the power and purity of the waves from both kayak and board gives me a unique perspective; rather than dwelling on petty differences and juvenile localism, I'm able to see the cosmic ties which bind our two disciplines in common outlook and purpose. Working together, boardies and paddlers can both share the waves equally - let's face it, there is enough for all - and fight together to combat eco-fascistic threats to our prisitine oceanic environment.

Anyway, bottom line is; being a boardie, I'm just a little bit better than all of you.

Mark, you're not the only one I stand up surf too (mainly at Woolacombe or Croyde), generally it's a case of treat each other with a bit of respect and everyone gets on. I would say that a bit of cross over training improves knowledge of waves and of what other people need from the break.

I really couldn't decide whether the fb page was trying to be ironic or whether it was just one of those selfish people that you occasionally come across, can't be bothered with it a great deal either way!!!

Has the WHOLE WORLD (not just a few bigoted boardies) really got some sort of sordid vendetta against kayakers?

It's probably best to just ignore this sort of stuff or we will just be feeding our inferiority complex.

Yes I though it was probably a call for tolerance put in a provocative way, some of the posts seem to have missed the point of the group if that is the case!

I think he must have read the comments, most were not backing his page for world domination.
He now thinks we should all fight together to save the sharks and whales.
