The Road to Briancon

Post by Tim Spencer » Wed May 11, 2016 12:30 pm

Last year I seem to remember the road over to Briancon from Grenoble (N91) was closed due to a rock fall and we had to divert through Gap. Anybody know what is happening this year, is it still closed?

From planning this years route it looks as if it is still closed. Google and Bing wont route you along that road so it looks like the GAP route this year.

A new and narrow road has been put in on the other side of the reservoir but it is intended for locals only and the police will turn you back if they are there. Gap is the way to go unless you are travelling in the middle of the night.

What happens in the middle of the night. Do they close it? Do you know when?

Going by what he's said, in the middle of the night I assume that the police won't be there to turn you around!

Arhhhh, I think I got the wrong end of the stick (thinking the Gap route would be closed in the middle of the night). It all becomes clear.

Thanks

Yes, I meant the police are not normally around.
