The Burrs - Irwell

Post by adrian j pullin » Tue Sep 09, 2008 2:35 pm

Hi

Can anyone from Bury area tell me the level at the Burrs? We are meant to be doing a 3* assessment on Saturday but with the amount of rain, it might be too high.

Cheers

Hi Adrian
Its a bit difficult to predict, as metcheck suggests not too much rain yet at times the rain has been v heavy.
I live near the upper section (round rawtenstall) & yesterday that had dropped to a low level after stonking conditions over the weekend.
I would guess, unless there are sustained downpours that the Burrs levels will be quite low by the weekend.

Pretty good on Sunday; levels seemed to be ok, but some of the features were a bit small (OK I was using a 15' open...) as the levels restricted access to some parts (slabs of rock in the way where you wanted to plant a paddle)

Mind you it was my first visit there so nothing to compare it to historically.

Had a look at 6pm this evening. Nuttal would be a go-er, don't know how long it will hold up, not been here all week/weekend!
