Nant Clydach and middle Tawe - trees

Post by jmmoxon » Wed Mar 08, 2006 7:44 pm

Nant Clydach has several trees between Ynysbwl and the gorge - at least one of which needs to be portaged.

Middle Tawe several trees / hanging branches in potentially nasty positions for high flows but all can be avoided.

Nant Cyw has a tree right across middle of gorge and a big pile of trees just below - middle one could be removed fairly easily at low water, but log pile would need fairly serious chainsawing.

Giedd also looked like fair bit of wood in it, but had dropped too much for us to bother walking up.

Nant Clydach paddled from the outdoor swimming pool, the tunnel is fun but there is a tree blockage shortly after the next small weir (not the one at end of tunnel), which can be paddled if river high enough, but will probably collect more wood and a worse blockage further down which could be cleared on left quite easily, but we didn't have time. We didn't check out the viaduct by the slabs as it was too dark by then.
