We were out the other day from Sandend on the Moray Coast and saw what we initially thought were dolphins in Cullen Bay. There were about 8-10 of them and some were jumping clear out the water. We stayed at a safe distance as I didnt fancy one of them landing on us. I tried (and failed) to get some "jumpers". When I looked through the pics later I saw that they were most likely killer whales - in this pic here you can see the distinctive white marks on the bodies. Scanning the internet threw up this article about KW sightings arounjd the north coast of Scotland recently.
Came across this South Devon seal this evening. I've got a feeling that he might also be residing on the memory cards of other paddlers who've passed this way in recent days.........
Some images taken from a video when we were paddling in the Johnston & Queen Charlotte Straits, Canada last September. We reckon it was a teenage bull, that was following a pod through the strait and he got quite interested in us.
Incredible experience, making grown men cry. Once in a lifetime experience, or so we thought, as when paddling off mull 2 weeks ago, were joined by about 7 dolphins, for about 40mins which was incredible.
