I'm rubbish at sunset pics, usually having already started drinking but I did find an almost sunset one, apols for small size, just linked it through from my blog

nice post production.
I would fade the horizon line a bit on the composite to make it more credible: tThe kayaker appears to be paddling to the "edge" and about to fall off ? :-)

No post production - that is how it was shot, early morning just as the sun broke the horizon

There seriously wasn't any post production or composite - it's as it was - here's another one a few seconds earlier - note the flare colour (unless you think that was filtered in as well), waiting for them to get into position, no trickery - just lucky with the light conditions at the time - shot late November low morning sun.

The paddlers were really there - and not dropped in - just a matter of timing and viewpoint, as this one was shot moments after and didn't make the grade like the previous.

The thing about the sea, is that it moves up and down - sometimes fellow paddlers are above the horizon, sometimes below.
