For marine charts (offline) there is Navionics Mobile, includes charts, tides, currents and winds. Works great on my IP67 rated Motorola Defy

I've got a few other Android apps I'm finding useful

For OS mapping (offline) there is the superb Viewranger.

For winds I am liking the Windfinder app.

Sundroid is a pretty slick sunrise/sunset/moon phase application.

XCweather has a nice web app, not an offline app but a very nice looking mobile web page

I also gave an app called first aid, self explanatory.

Google sky is great when wild camping with a clear night sky

Brilliant information, thanks. I've tonight ordered myself an HTC Desire phone, so this is a timely post!

Comes to something when I have to buy the same phone that my 13-year old daughter had 6 months ago!!

P.S. any more apps I should consider, anyone?

Ive been using my HTC Desire with the following Android Apps

Tide Predictions (free ) simple tide forcast
Everytrail Pro (£3 I think ) works well and logs trips and gives stats and allows for your phones pictures etc . Example http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=660720
Navionics UK Holland (around £20 ) good for planning and use but for simple trips and straightforward logging I prefer the everytrail software.
Magic seaweed Dale Jefferson setup is easy to use ( Free) for weather and wave prediction is great .

More power to the Android I say

Cheers

Alan

MM Tracker is great - let's me use my old Memory Map maps on the phone, offline.

This allows you to use online OS maps for navigation...

Memory Map are supposed to be porting their software to Android but they have been claiming this since June last year so I, and many others have given up hope.

Just an update for those new to the dark art.
Memory map now available on Android, works well and can get both chart and O/S loaded. Can use as a GPS and log trips, measure distances etc.

License is a bit of a faf but ring them if you are struggling. I booked a phone session with their tech guys and had it all sorted on my Notebook, android phone and Memory map gps.

Very goo customer service.

Also use Navionics, latest version is about £25 but great, have found the odd error in tidal info but as long as you are aware of this it is fine, should not rely on one piece of info anyway if you ask me.

Cheers have fun.
