Tom,

I've got a pair. They're very good and do what it says on the tin. My initial fears that you couldn't cinch them down tightly (due to the wires) proved unfounded. I've been using them for nearly a year and have only two negative comments:

(i) the locks / buckles are rather large and heavy, you do need to make sure they're positioned so as to not cause any damage to your pristine gel coat,

(ii) after a few weeks of cinching down snugly little strands of wire start to make they're presence felt through the ends of the straps. If you're not careful they can cause an irritatingly & painful small puncture wound.

On the whole I think they're a good idea. I think a few people on the inland forum also have them, it may be worth posting your question there.

Regards,
Tim

Thanks for the feedback folks. I think I might get one to add some security.
My roof rack locks to the roof, but removing the kayak at the moment would be pretty easy.

Cheers,

Tom.

Have you looked at the playboater rackguard:

Which goes into your car door/boot.

Or just padlocking your boat to the roofrack using a bicycle chain around the seat/security bar?

That might be an option, thanks.

Comes with the advice "Simple and effective roofrack theft deterrent. Simply feed the cable through your boats and shut your balls in the boot of your car."

Sounds nasty! That's not where your username came from is it??

Cheers,

Tom.
