Here's a few of your local designs cracking a few waves in Sydney yesterday.

Heavenly.

Love the drone footage, really does give you a feel for the session, almost like you're there!

Hi Mark and Rob, thank you for posting this great antidote to a very cold northern winter. I love the location and those new Audax boats look like they handle great :o)

Enjoyed the video. Looks like a fantastic place to go surfing.

Hope you don't mind me asking a question. I noticed the blue boat had its rudder up. Do you think rudder down would have helped the broach at 2:20?

Don't mean to be critical at all. I'm new to kayaking and just trying to learn as much as I can about the fine points of boat handling. Maybe manoeuvrability is more important on a wave.
Have fun and don't die.

G'day McGruff & everyone, thanks for the kind words.

The rudder might have prevented the broach - maybe - but certainly would have prevented the very cool little hit & spin that follows it. Rob had the rudder up on the steep sections, and when he needed to dance around, and then dropped it as the tide fattened up the waves and he needed a bit more speed to get 'em. Nice to have the versatility in Aled's genius of a little kayak!

Mark.

Yes on land about 1200m away, watching it all on an iphone screen. Very clever piece of tech.
