This seasons colours

Amid endless drab days...

I was cheered to find myself surrounded by Fifty Shades of Orange - and pleased I'd dressed the boat and myself appropriately...

So - bring some brightness to the thread and please share your colour co-ordinated kayaking photies!

Wonderful pictures, thanks - all you need is a non-black-and-white dog!

Hi Grean,
And what a lovely post! Such dark days at this time of year but thoughts and plans for the Spring bring 'colour'. My very simple contribution:-

Colours Of The Sea

Eigg stands alone, stark.
Dark silhouette, brooding sentinel,
An Old Master.
Her ancient rock holds fast,
In a living sea, changing colour,
With brush strokes of the sun.

Brilliance between shadows as clouds cross the sky,
Sea shining, emerald as spring grass,
Changing to the colour of blue-bells,
And softens in advance of the squall.

With the squall comes the wind,
Adding white to the palette,
Mixing with silver.
Electric shards against the darkening sky.
Now clouds over loaded, purple heavy with rain
Sweep over Eigg,
Driving all colour to black.

Through the clouds a window forms.
Alchemy, where the sun goes to rest.
Whilst Eigg stands so stark
(In gathering dark)
Her signature, written Gold on the sea.

That is beautiful, so evocative. Am I showing my ignorance by asking who it is by?!

Hi Grian,
It's by a fella who has spent a lot of hours sitting in a boat, enjoying the stunning scenery of the 'Small Isles'. I can't paint, tin musical ear, rubbish at photos so find words easier to 'explain' images and feelings!

Last weekend - beautiful St Austell Bay in Cornwall. Big spring tides and crystal-clear water. Soup and panini for lunch. Perfect! The photo was taken by Mike Hayes of http://www.seasurfdirt.com/ who is the owner of the orange Romany.

Nice pictures - but I'm not sure people are really getting the idea here........
So much sea - so little time to see it.

Now you've got me questioning what the "idea" was ?

I went off this line in the original post.... "So - bring some brightness to the thread and please share your colour co-ordinated kayaking photies"

It wouldn't be the first time if I'd missed something obvious ;-)

Yes, me too. However, I was going for irony, being that there is nothing coordinated about a pink Romany Sport, yellow spare paddles and an orange helmet. All set against the natural beauty of turquoise, gunmetal and white. If we had glued the two boats together we would have looked like a giant Fruit Salad (for those who remember the sweetie). I know irony is a very British style of humour but since this is the UKSKGB I didn't think I'd have to explain.

Anyway, if I have failed to adhere to threadiquette (could that be a future Trumpism) in some way I apologise to those who are offended. Maybe us miscreants (you know who you are, you naughty people) can start a fresh thread. Could titles such as "Clash when you splash" or ""Outstanding" work?

It's Christmas! Let's all spread a little cheer ..

oh come now, everyone knows the forum is governed by a complex set of unwritten rules requiring hundreds of hours of online study to understand. It's a bit like acquiring 'The Knowledge' for kayaking but requires a screen rather than a paddle. Besides anyone who says orange and pink isn't colour coordinated needs to look at my new kayaking hat for sunny days.

Popular yuletide event at Coleraine, NI.

The annual Festival of Light is an illuminated procession on the River Bann.
