Sea Kayaking app
Hope this is allowed. Someone in our kayak club has developed an app designed for solo sea kayakers. It is called Splash 365 and can be found in the Google play store for android devices. I have copied his blurb about it from our kayak club page. It looks like quite a handy thing to have and is free to download and use.
Hi everybody, I've built a mobile application that you might be interested in. The idea came to me because I have a tendency to go out paddling without telling anybody where I am.
Amongst other things it records your trips for future reference, allows friends to track you in real time, and gives you one touch access to an emergency contact, emergency services, or your nearest coastguard. Add photos and save your trips, or export them as GPX files for use with a wide variety of devices and software. With Splash 365 you will never be alone when you're out on the water.
You can download it now for Android from Google Play and never be alone at sea again. It's not available for iOS yet, but if the demand is high enough then maybe I'll look at that in the near future.

I have not tried it but have watched my friends progress on his trial paddles whilst developing the app. He has put a lot of good work into it and I think it shows a lot of good features.

As far as I am aware he will look into it if the Android version is popular. I have no idea how much work is involved in developing such apps. But I know the guy is a Web designer and android user so obviously made it for the operating system that he himself uses.

Sounds good, sadly not compatible with my Android phone (Samsung J5), even though its only 8 months old or so.
Re: Sea Kayaking app
Sounds like a good idea but I can't find it by doing a direct search on Google Apps and it says my Motorola Android phone and Samsung Tablet are not compatible.

Re: Sea Kayaking app
Got it installed on my Samsung s7 a few days ago. Contacted the author with a few suggestions. From his replies I'd say it's going to become an incredibly useful tool for both solo and group paddlers alike.
Look forward to seeing how it develops.

Re: Sea Kayaking app
I tried to download it and got a message saying not compatible with my phone Xperia M5.
I emailed the the guy and had a very quick reply saying he would look into it and a few days later another saying it should now work. I was then able to download it. I've not tried it out yet but will be on Sunday.
