Plastic repair?

Post by MikeB »

Is there anyone in the Lakes who can repair a plastic Capella which has a split in it? The owner isn't wanting to try and attempt DIY welding and is thinking of taking it down to P&H. Mike

theres a boatyard at a place called Bowston on the backroad between Burneside and Stavely near Kendal that does plastic welding. cant remember the name off hand. could be worth trying a local boat yard if theres one near. there are some good videos of plastic welding and lots of tips on youtube

One thing you can do whilst you're working out where to get it repaired is to make a quick phone call to the manufacturer. If they are anywhere near as helpful as Perception, they'll offer to send you some plastic off-cuts down to do the repair with. You dramatically increase your chances of a successful repair if you've got exactly the same type of plastic to melt into the crack.
