Exped Downmats

Well it makes a change from skegs etc.

Anyone use one?
Is the extra weight of the 9 compared to the 7 worth it?
Any suggestions of where to purchase one, I can only find outlets on the 'Net and would like to have a look at one first considering how much they cost.

I use the Exped DownMat UL 7 M 183 x 52 x 7 cm, it packs smaller than a Thermarest Prolite Plus and is warmer and more comfortable, It was about £112 delivered, sorry forget from where. Expensive but well worth the investment for a good night sleep.

Alternatively you could save yourself a hundred quid and get a proper, comfy, off the ground nights sleep for around a tenner.

The gap underneath can get cold in winter, stuff your clothes under there for maximum toastyness.

We stock them. Unless you plan to spend a lot of time camping on snow and in COLD climates, the Synmat is perfectly adequate.

Personally I went for the 9cm deep and long/wide. If you're having a comfortable bed, might as well make it big enough that you don't fall out of it.

Ive got the 9 down extra long/wide and its the best mat Ive ever had - the first time Ive really had comfortable nights in a tent. My mate has a 7 and he was a bit chilly this winter so I recon its well worth it.

Thanks for information, just what I was after. I shall give Pete a ring later in the week. I have seen a Synmat 9LW ultralite if he cannot get one I shall go for the 9LW.

The biggest down mat takes a lot of CPR to get it inflated with the built in pump.
If buying a new one, I'd go for the inflation bag option too.

I have a 7 and a 9, both lightweight versions and both sourced from Summit to Sea.

The 7 does the job nicely but the 9 is luxury (and worth it!)
They both smooth out all the lumps and bumps to give as good a night's sleep as you'll get under canvas. Not used my Thermarest since.
