Lismore and Shuna trip video
Last week I met up with a friend from Northern Ireland, and a member of his local club, to paddle in Scotland. We’d originally been planning to go and paddle the Knoydart area but the strong southerly winds and a very poor forecast for that area forced us to change plans. After discussing a few alternate options we decided on Lismore and Shuna.
We spent four days/three nights paddling the islands. Of course this trip can be done quicker but we were keen to slow down and enjoy the scenery :)
I shot little bits of footage with two GoPros and my phone and cut together a video. I even awkwardly recorded some voiceover bits, something I hate doing but felt was necessary to give some context. I realise 15 minutes pushes many people’s attention spans to breaking point but if you’ve just sat down to a cup of tea perhaps you’ll enjoy watching our mini adventure :)

Your voiceover is fine!!!! Very professional, BBC quality. Lovely trip, thanks. My extended family used to own sea frontage just down from the Appin ferry where you started (sigh).

I was down Loch Nevis, Knoydart, when you mentioned. Poor forecast but it turned out fine. West Coast winter forecasts!
Spent 4 days down there. Found a scallop spot. 15 for lunch. Heaven. (Nevis!)

Glad you enjoyed the video! :) That area is beautiful! I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting from the area but it was a lot more rugged and interesting than I’d been expecting. I’d certainly love to own some sea frontage there!

Beautiful! Great editing and the voiceover is perfect. You should be proud of this, it's really lovely work.
Nice bit of taunting at the castle too, you silly English kaniggits. :-)

What a lovely video of a fun trip!
I know the area well and you have captured the 'feel' of your expedition so very well.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to your story.
Thank you so much!

Wow, that would be such a dream to own! I'd set up a little sea kayaking stopover paradise :DCeegee wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 3:14 pmYou will have paddled right past it

To everyone else that's replied, it really warms my heart that people enjoyed the video! I really enjoyed putting it together, it's a great way to relive the experience and ward off the post-trip blues. Every time I go to Scotland it gets a little harder to come back home :)

Re: Lismore and Shuna trip video
Yeah I updated the video with maps, a slightly simpler cut, more filmic colours and feel, and re-recorded some of the dialogue to sound less like a robot!
Re: Lismore and Shuna trip video
Excellent video, felt like I was there! Note that I only watched the updated version.
Loved the the atmosphere, the variety of shots and angles, the subtle map animations and the voiceover that tied it all together. For some reason, I had to go out and get some beers after watching the video...
Thanks!
