Tiderace Vortex experiences

Post by Dimitri »

I'm thinking of buying a Tiderace Vortex and I'd like to know owners/paddlers experiences of it. If anybody has or had one please chime in!

The Jersey Canoe Club acquired a large number as our house boat. I think the club might have a facebook account so you could try touching base with us via that. As a small and light male I found them something of a barge, but they perform their role adequately.

Myself and a mate had a short demo in one a few years ago, we were both felt they were not that responsive to paddle compared to something like a Dagger Stratos, which is very playful, however as a tough short sea kayak it would be great and faster than the Dagger, also worth trying the Valley Gemini SP rm which is the same kind of kayak.

This sounds about right for me. I currently paddle a Reval HV and the Dagger felt over energetic to me. I'd also happily trade speed for a little less responsiveness.
