mega thigh braces - what material?? / fixing

Post by pablo » Sat May 05, 2018 5:17 pm

hi the bolts on 1 of thigh braces in my boost pulled through - I need to mend with some glass or similar ( maybe glu on metal back plate to reinforce the now too bigs holes

my boat is the x tech layup which is epoxy I think
does this mean thigh braces will be same and so does that mean I can't use polyester resin to fix them?
any one else had similar issues ?

Give Pete a call at Mega,as the cockpit and thigh braces are moulded separately from the rest so they could be either, but I suspect that they will be the same as the rest of the boat as they are quite often colour coded so using the same gel as the rest of the boat.

I've only ever seen the braces made from standard fibreglass matting so I suspect it will be ploy resin but it should matter a great deal if all you are doing is reinforcing where the bolt sits, just use what you have.

I think they have moved since Malcolm's time, its now owned by Pete Holgate, who seems very approachable and happy to talk things through with you. Their contact details are on their web page.
