PE = polyethylene i.e plastic (so not composite at all)

This is what I trying to find out...Cheers from the mega site
Marauder the PE has been tweaked for the bigger guys amongst us. An inch wider in the centre and around 2" in the tail. The Cockpit has also been enlarged by approx 1" in the width and 3" on the length. The overall effect giving a much roomier boat, with more overall carrying capacity. The rails and transitions have been hardened up giving a a crisper release. The fin boxes have also been moved aft....... So is the PE a MK2

You live and learn. I thought the PE suffix always indicated a plastic version of a Mega boat :)

According to the build page PE means plastic.....

I would assume they've tweaked the PE version to make it work better in that material?

or someone got the shrinkage calculation wrong when making the mould.

Now I hope I get this right but it goes something like this....

Listen up boys and girls,
A long time ago in a land not to far away, Malcolm at Mega kayaks wanted to make a plastic boat, at the time the Marauder was very popular so it seemed an obvious choice.
A few changes were made to the Marauder to take into account of shrinkage and to just tweak a few bits based on feedback.
The first plug was made but when it was moulded there were clearly issues with the shrinkage calculations and it surfed pretty shittily.
At this point things went bad somehow between the people with the plastic moulders and Mega. I don't know the full story from both sides so I won't speculate about why.
The people with the mould and the plastic oven kept the mould and went separate ways and the rather ballsed up version of the Marauder is eventually released as the Amoeba Carver (with no credit or royalties being given to Mega).
Back at Mega however, they now have a bigger, tweaked Marauder plug sat around not doing much so they decide to mould one in composite and see if it works as a big boy Marauder which it goes on to prove to do rather well.

So the PE is because it is meant to be the plug for the Polyurethane version but was actually made as a composite big boys boat.

This worked so well that when the Plastic Neutron got made Malcolm instantly used the plug to make a big boy Neutron and the Megatron was born :D

Story time over.

Denzil just about has it right .
The PE in this instance is infact due to the fact it was designed as the plug for a polyethylene model but i had tge shrinkages wrong due to inexperience , but it made for a great big boys composite boat .
