Beach Tips Cornwall / Devon ?

Post by Daker » Mon Sep 12, 2016 1:14 pm

I'm going to be down in Cornwall + Devon in a week's time and just looking for anyone's top beach tips please ?

I only have a week so keen to try and avoid hours of driving to crowded beaches and / or rubbish conditions.
OK, that's a hugely broad question and totally weather / swell dependant but any advice gratefully received.

Or if there any active Facebook pages / forums as the only ones I found didn't appear to have any recent chat on them ?
Thanks a lot.

I'm in my van so just moving around wherever the mood (or swell) take me.
The only place I have to be is Bude for the 2nd weekend but no plans other than that.

Unfortunately the GF doesn't surf so we will have to do other stuff too but will take the sea boats and bikes so all bases are covered.

Then go to Sennen, if it's flat there it's flat everywhere. If it's too big/blown out at Sennen you can easily reach the other side of the coast from there, round Penzance way.
You won't know if you don't go...

Thanks a lot.
Yeah, the idea of being able to get to either coast sounds like a good plan but if its too windy I windsurf also.

All other suggestions welcomed.

if you are in the bude area you can obv surf here if its not too messy but you also have roadford lake 30 mins away (canoe/windsurf/kayak/sail) anf Tamar lake 15 mins away. if you have your bikes then check out dept 26 mtb club too, friendly bunch who'll show you around, great local woods for mtb.

Another vote for Sennen. Others I like are Gwithian & Polzeath. all are dependant on conditions.

Croyde is good, but it's fast. Putsborough and Saunton are spitting distance and are less frantic, but have smaller waves.

Cheers again guys.
Have board surfed at Puts and in the surf boat at Croyde so far.
Hoping to get down to Sennen 2moro (Weds) if any locals are around ?
